A tela iluminada do Kindle Paperwhite é tão incrível que você não vai acreditar que é e-ink.
Eu acabei de ver e ainda não acredito. Ela combina o aspecto de telas e-ink, semelhante a papel, com a usabilidade de telas LCD, mas sem o cansaço visual. Hoje, nenhum e-reader chega perto disso.
E não é apenas a tela: o novo Kindle Paperwhite faz o Kindle antigo parecer algo barato. A frente preta e obscenamente limpa, sem botões, humilha o plástico pintado de prata no Kindle do ano passado. E-readers deveriam sempre ter sido assim. O Paperwhite é um pouco menor que o Kindle antigo, mas mal dá para notar na mão. O peso parece também ser o mesmo.
Mas a tela. Ah, a tela. Ela é muito nítida e deliciosamente brilhante, sem parecer que você está queimando sua retina com adagas de cristal líquido. A luz se dispersa por igual na tela, tornando-a mais um fruto de amor da LCD e e-ink do que uma tela e-ink fingindo ser LCD. Em comparação, a tela iluminada frontalmente do Nook Simple Touch with Glowlight parece só uma mancha com brilho. Veja abaixo:
A sensação de segurar e usar o novo Kindle é ótima. Não há pontos fracos, nem plástico mal-encaixado. Ele é tão bom quanto o modelo antigo, porém melhor ao toque. Usá-lo é significantemente mais agradável porque a taxa de atualização da tela é muito mais rápida, e a touchscreen foi atualizada para um painel capacitivo (em vez de infravermelho). Não só isso, mas a tela parece mais semelhante a papel, por causa da densidade maior de pixels: 212 PPI.
Nem tudo são flores, no entanto: ainda há um pouco de lag porque a tela e-ink ainda precisa de um pouco mais de tempo para reagir, se comparada à LCD. E, estranhamente, não há entrada para fone de ouvido no novo Kindle.
A Amazon também fez basicamente uma Smart Cover para o Paperwhite. Ela usa ímãs para tirá-lo do modo suspenso quando a capa é aberta. Esta capa parece bem melhor que a lançada ano passado para o modelo antigo.
O Kindle Paperwhite está disponível em dois modelos. Quer só Wi-Fi? US$119. Quer 3G também? US$179. O 3G não é pago, e você pode usá-lo ao redor do mundo, mas o Kindle não serve muito para navegar na web ou baixar arquivos – ele foi feito para ler, afinal.
Ele está em pré-venda na Amazon, e será entregue em 1° de outubro.
